安丰历史悠久，新石器时代成陆，西汉先民煮盐入史，唐开元建置，初名东淘；宋范仲淹于此修成捍海堰，御潮灾，解民悬，乃更名安丰；至明代，安丰盐业极盛，灶丁达48000人，所产“和盐”（外界称“安盐”）走俏江南，成为 “淮南中十场”之名场。由是，安丰商贾辐辏，店铺林立，于明万历末建成了南北七华里的古镇，北起下灶星月桥，南至盐埧盈宁桥，遍布着“九坝十三巷七十二庙堂”。这条充满古风古韵的老街让游客体验名镇的“古味”，感受浓浓的“乡情”。

The history of Anfeng can be dated back to the neolithic period, when its land emerged out of sea. It is recorded in history books that there has been workers boiling seasalt since the West Han Dynasty. It was first institutionalized and called Dongtao in Kaiyuan Reign of Tang Dynasty (713 A.D.). A sea wall was built in Song Dynasty, that is supervised by Fan Zhongyan, to block the tides, and protect the citizens, therefore it was renamed Anfeng, that literally means safety and prosperity. Its production of seasalt boomed in Ming Dynasty and became a specialty of Anfeng. Supported by its nearly 48000 workers, it became one of the ten biggest saltworks in Huainan Area. The businessmen and shops gathered here in Wanli Reign of Ming Dynasty, along the 3.5 km long ancient street, with Xingyue Bridge on the north end, and Yingning Bridge on the south end, dotted by levees, alleys, and ancestral halls. The visitors can enjoy the ancient history and fascinating culture of the town.
